With growth comes growing pains, and that’s the same with SaaS companies. For Evocalize, a leading collaborative marketing automation platform provider, this was exactly the issue. As their product offering evolved, guiding users through setup, collecting feedback, and managing the onboarding process for their clients grew increasingly complex and resource-intensive. 

Evocalize needed a solution that could simplify onboarding, improve feature adoption, and streamline feedback collection, all without putting even more stress on their engineering team. So they turned to Userflow. What followed was a transformative journey that revitalized Evocalize’s product-led growth.  

The Challenge: How to Scale, No-code Style 

Evocalize offers a collaborative marketing platform (CMP) designed to empower local marketers—like real estate agents, mortgage officers, and franchisees—to run highly effective digital campaigns automatically, based on any data source. Their clients include parent companies like franchisors and multi-location brands that integrate Evocalize’s platform into their existing tech stacks. As Evocalize’s offerings evolved, the onboarding process became cumbersome, creating an opportunity for the team to guide users through processes and educate them around all the complex marketing magic happening behind the scenes. 

But when it came to creating new onboarding flows or customizing existing ones, the team required quite a lot of engineering effort. It was the same for their feedback collection systems. This resulted in bottlenecks that slowed the product team down. As a rapidly innovating startup, they needed to move with speed and effectiveness. Which meant they had to reduce their reliance on technical resources. 

So the team decided enough was enough. It was time to find a solution. 

Discovering the Solution: Userflow

In order to address these challenges, Evocalize sought a no-code onboarding tool that could offer flexibility, scalability, and ease of use—qualities they found in Userflow. The platform’s ability to create personalized, step-by-step onboarding guides without having to use up engineering resources was a game-changer. 

Implementing Userflow

The implementation of Userflow was both efficient and seamless for Evocalize. With a simple JavaScript integration, they were able to easily embed Userflow into their platform without major disruptions. The mapping of Userflow’s user and group structures to Evocalize’s existing data model also ensured a smooth transition.

Userflow enabled Evocalize to create personalized onboarding flows for users. This allowed for tailored experiences that guided users through the program setup process effectively.

One use case was for Evocalize's Blueprints, which automates the assembly and activation of digital marketing programs. They provided step-by-step instructions and detailed explanations on how to create a marketing program on Evocalize’s platform.

A/B Tests for Optimization

Another key use case of Userflow was when Evocalize A/B tested to see if new users who interacted with this experience were more likely to convert because they had a more tailored recommendation based on their responses. Evocalize used Userflow’s A/B testing feature to present users with a tailored questionnaire on the dashboard that asked users regarding their marketing goals and what type of content they wanted to promote, which would allow Evocalize to recommend users with a Blueprint and get them quickly into program creation.

In-App Surveys and Feedback Collection 

In addition, Evocalize used Userflow’s in-app survey features to collect user feedback including NPS. 

In particular, during beta testing of new features, Evocalize used Userflow to collect feedback scores and qualitative data in order to directly tap into user insights and help the product team understand how new features are perceived by users.

Conditional Theming 

Finally, Userflow's conditional theming was crucial in supporting Evocalize’s multi-tenant, white-labeled environment. The flexible theming options allowed Evocalize to manage each white-labeled instance effectively, providing tailored onboarding experiences for different clients while maintaining consistency.
